Library Resources and Services Pandemic Update Autumn 2020
In order to provide a safe environment for our staff and students the Library has adjusted some of its services for the autumn term.
The Library is open for -
Click & Collect, Returns and Bookable Study Spaces Monday to Friday 09:00 - 20:00; Saturday 10:00 - 17:00; and Sunday 13:00 - 17:00.
Dates and times are subject to change depending on staffing, local lockdowns and cleaning requirements.
From 1 October the Archives will be open Monday to Friday 10:00 - 16:00 to UCA staff and students but not external visitors. Booking is required. Archive materials will be quarantined for three days after use. To book an appointment contact Gateway - see Contact the Library for further information.
Browsing will not be possible but the Library will operate a Click & Collect Service to enable staff and students to request up to 5 loans at a time. Lending limits remain unchanged.
Use LibrarySearch to find what you are looking for, login to your Library account and place a hold on the item. When your item is ready for collection you'll receive an email confirming how to collect your item - this may take up to two working days.
You can return books to the campus library but these will be quarantined for three days before they are removed from your account and shelved.
If you only need a single chapter or journal article you can request a scan for your personal study and research using Scan & Deliver - for more information see Requesting Resources.
From 14 September a limited number of computers (PCs and Macs) and study spaces will be available to book in 30 minute slots up to a maximum of 2 hours a week. Booking is required and spaces are available to book up to 14 days in advance - once booked you will be emailed with further instructions on how to confirm your space. If you do not confirm into your space within 30 minutes it will be automatically released for someone else to book and you will lose your booking.
The Cross Campus Loans Service will be available from the 1 November 2020. If you only need a single chapter or journal article you can request a scan for your personal study and resource using Scan & Deliver - for more information see Requesting Resources).
From 1 October 2020 the Digitisation Studio will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10:00 - 16:00. Bookings will be required. Appointments will be limited to one hour, with spacing between to allow equipment to be cleaned. To learn more and book an appointment see - Digitisation Studio.
The library will supply PDF copies of journal articles wherever possible, but is currently unable to supply books on loan from external libraries (for more information about Document Supply see Requesting Resources).
The digital library is available from any location 24/7. You can find and access many of the online resources using LibrarySearch. Alternatively you can find course specific resources by selecting your course area under Subject Resources.
A number of new online resources will be available this year, with more being added, including -
Alexander Street Theatre Performance and Design Video Collection (which includes the National Theatre Collection)
BoB Streaming TV Service
Digimap has been upgraded to include additional map types
WGSN has been upgraded to add WGSN Beauty
Wiley Journals – upgraded to provide access to complete Wiley e-journal collection
The Library has also increased the number of copies of popular electronic books and will continue to do this in response to usage.
The Library has introduced an online enquiry service, which is available Tuesday and Thursday between 11:00 and 12:00. To chat to a librarian or access the Frequently Asked Questions use the Library Q&A tab on the right hand side of the screen.

Library or Archives services are closed to external visitors, including SCONUL Access and alumni.
The Library is not buying any new print books or DVDs. If you require a print book or DVD which is not in the collection and can't find an equipment electronic version please contact your campus Liaison Librarians who may be able to suggest alternatives.
All workshops and tutorials will be online. In addition the Library is offering a weekly Webinar Programme covering a wide range of information and library topics.
Over the autumn the Library will be working on extending it's services where it is safe to do so and in the Spring Term hopes to bring you -
